My name is Flaco Navaja! I’m a super boricua born in Lennox hill hospital and raised in a duplex in the projects in the Bronx. I play Willie Jr. in East Willyb.

What drew you to East Willyb?

The main thing that drew me to East Willyb was the passion of its co creators and how clear their plan of attack was. This didn’t feel like a group of friends that wanted to just do some funny shit and put it on YouTube. These were two smart Latinos that knew they could make history.

How did you prepare to play your character?

I had the luxury of being in the room when the scripts were being written for this season. It gave me the opportunity to see Willie’s world be created in front of my eyes. The rest was just putting myself in that world and playing around. I know…that was deep. Lol.

What was the most challenging part of shooting the series this summer?

This is the most fun I have ever had on set of a production. So it’s difficult to call any part of it challenging. However, if I had to choose something I would say the long hours. That and overcoming my own self doubt.

What was your favorite part of shooting the series this summer?

My favorite part of shooting the series this summer was being able to work with such a talented and funny cast and crew. Most of us had worked together before and the ones that hadn’t fit right in as if we had!

Team Willie or Team Albert? Why?

Really?!?! I should end this interview right now!

Favorite character (other than your own)?

It’s a toss up between Tommy and Gisselle. I absolutely love their characters and how they play them in the show.

What actor would you like to see guest starring on the show? Do you have a character idea?

I have a list but I’ll pick one randomly of that list. I’d like to see Luis Guzman guest star on the show. In terms of character ideas, any character you give him I’m sure he will knock it out of the park and fit right in with us.

In your opinion, what makes East Willyb different from other shows or series?

What makes East Willyb different from other shows or series is that it’s a unique and honest voice. It has a talented cast and it is smarter and funnier than most sitcoms on network television. Yea I said it and what?

What are your hopes for EWB?

My hopes for EWB is that it receives the national and international exposure it deserves and gets a budget to continue creating awesome episodes.

What do you do when you’re not on EWB?

When I am NOT on East Willyb I’m singing salsa regularly with various bands all over the city. Including my own band called Flaco Navaja and The Razor Blades. I  am also a teaching artist and I teach at various high schools in New York.

If you could say one thing to our audience, what would it be?

If I can say one thing to our audience it would be simply thank you. Thank You. Thank You. Thank You.  Really without you we could not exist.
